The short version
Fovea reads EPUB books locally on your device. Fovea does not upload the books you import, their text, titles, authors, filenames, reading positions, or dictionary terms.
Information stored on your device
Your imported books, covers, reading positions, reader preferences, and purchase entitlement are stored on your device using Apple platform storage. Removing the app may remove locally stored app data, subject to your device and backup settings.
Optional usage analytics
On first open, Fovea asks whether you want to share pseudonymous usage analytics. Analytics remain off unless you choose to share them. You can change your choice at any time in Settings.
When enabled, analytics may include:
- App opens, sessions, and screens viewed
- Import and catalog download success or failure
- Coarse reading session duration and interaction summaries
- Feature and setting adoption
- Paywall, purchase, restore, and entitlement outcomes
- App version, build number, and operating system major version
Analytics do not include book content, book metadata, filenames, dictionary terms, raw error messages, precise location, advertising identifiers, Apple account information, payment card details, prices, or StoreKit transaction identifiers.
Pseudonymous identifiers
If you enable analytics, Fovea creates a random installation identifier. It is not an advertising identifier and is not used to follow you across apps or websites. The analytics service transforms installation and session identifiers before storing them.
Processing and retention
Analytics are processed using Cloudflare infrastructure. Raw pseudonymous event detail and identifier-bearing records are retained for up to 90 days. Cloudflare Analytics Engine retains its event data for approximately three months. Aggregate counts that no longer contain installation or session identifiers may be retained for longer product trend analysis.
Your choices
Turning analytics off stops future collection, removes queued events, and removes the analytics identifier from your device. Settings also lets you reset the identifier used for future analytics.
Data access and removal
To request access to or removal of pseudonymous analytics records, email privacy@getfovea.app. Include the Data Request ID shown in Fovea Settings so the request can be matched without asking for your name.
Identifiable pseudonymous records will be removed when they can be matched. Identifier-free aggregate counts cannot be connected back to a person or installation. Analytics Engine records cannot be removed individually and expire through its fixed retention schedule.
Purchases
Supporter purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Fovea receives the verified purchase status needed to unlock features. It does not receive or store your payment card details.
Website
The Fovea website does not use advertising trackers or product analytics. Cloudflare may process basic request and security data to deliver and protect the site.
